Best Student Named
Published December 11, 2025

The results of the National Assessment Test (NAT) for 3rd graders in The Gambia are now available. These tests are administered annually for 3rd, 5th, and 8th grades, and they measure learning levels in the core subjects of English, mathematics, and “Integrated Studies.” The latter is a subject that encompasses science, technology, and engineering by bridging the gap between religious and secular education, to ensure that all students receive a more comprehensive and career-relevant education.
A student who achieves the highest possible score on these tests demonstrates exceptional mastery of key skills in the subject, relative to their age. Two of our elementary school students in Brikama received such an award in English (Best Overall Performance in English): Alasan Fatty and Anna A. Mendy. The latter was also named “Top Academic Achiever” in 2025—the most academically accomplished student in her entire graduating class, based on overall grades or scores.
The large photo at the very top and the photo on the left show Anna A. Mendy with the principal and one of the teachers. The photo on the right shows Alasan Fatty with the principal, who presented the awards.
