Published March 7, 2024
Last week, 55 students from Brikama went on an 11-hour school trip with their teachers Alagie Sarr, Landing Sorra, Kemo Saidybah, and Angelic Gomze.
The cooks Musukebba and Mai Suwaneh also joined them. Here are some of the things they experienced on the trip:

The National Museum of The Gambia is a Gambian cultural museum located in Banjul. It houses historical documents and exhibits on the history of The Gambia. The National Museum’s primary mission is to exhibit and promote scholarly research and the appreciation of works of art and historical artifacts.
The Crocodile Pond in Bakau
The Kachikally Crocodile Pond dates back to the 1500s, when the Bojang family still owned the land. In The Gambia, according to tradition, the crocodile symbolizes fertility, and swimming in the pond is said to help with that. Good luck! The pool was said to be a well belonging to a spirit named Kachikally.
There are more than a hundred crocodiles in the pool.

Abuko National Park is a nature reserve in The Gambia located south of the town of Abuko. It is a popular tourist attraction and was the country’s first designated wildlife reserve. It was granted protected status in 1916 and declared a nature reserve in 1968.
As you follow the trails through the jungle, you can see various animals such as crocodiles, antelopes, monkeys, vultures, hyenas, and more.
