Finally, we have a workshop that works
Published February 6, 2024

One of the most frustrating things about fixing something in The Gambia is that you’re always missing the right tool—or something as simple as screws of the right size. It’s tempting to think you could just go to Biltema or Jula and get what you need, but stores like that are few and far between here. Often you can’t find what you’re looking for, and if you do, the quality is laughable. That’s why it’s absolutely incredible that we’ve now managed to set up a fully functional workshop.
We brought several suitcases packed to the brim from Norway with hand tools and equipment—everything from a circular saw, drill, and angle grinder to good screwdrivers, wrenches, trowels, and sanding blocks. Everything we could manage to pack in without exceeding the 23-kilo limit for each suitcase. And what was even better was that we didn’t have to buy very much of it. Most of it was donated by a family in Tønsberg and another in Vikersund.
Thank you to our loyal sponsors and supporters!
