Butterfly Friends is fortunate to have many generous sponsors throughout Norway. This enables us to provide a quality education to 2,055 students aged four to nineteen and to pay our 230 employees. Like ripples in water, Butterfly Friends helps children and adults far beyond the school walls by bringing predictability, security, and joy to many families every month.

Two of our wonderful sponsors, Lillian Berg and Ellen Lefdal, have donated computer equipment to our schools in The Gambia, including Smartboards. This marked the start of yet another container adventure. Lillian and Ellen have raised funds so that we can send not only computer equipment but also vital medical supplies to the health center. We will be sending an ultrasound machine from Rikshospitalet to the hospital in Banjul. The machine will be able to help a great many people, and we are grateful to be able to assist with this.

In addition, the container is being filled with desks and chairs from Hosletoppen Middle School in Bærum. Hosletoppen offers an elective course called “Helping Others,” and students from that school are helping with the packing. We’ve also received chairs and tables from the Risenga Swimming Pool, as well as at least 50 bags of forgotten towels and clothing.

Beautiful gifts from “Strikk for Livet” have also been packed. Many little ones will be delighted by the soft, warm clothes and blankets knitted from the softest baby wool by women who love to knit all across Europe. “Strikk for Livet” has even received knitted baby clothes from Australia.

If you’re in the area and would like to donate shoes, summer clothes, soccer balls, or various school supplies such as chalk, pencils, and crayons, you can find us at Hosletoppen Middle School on Thursday, May 3, between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Address: Bjarne Skaus vei 40, 1362 Holse.

Hope to see you there :)
