National Day Celebrated—Belatedly
Published March 11, 2024
On February 18, 2024, the nation celebrated the 59th anniversary of The Gambia’s independence. Prior to that, the country was part of the British Empire. For the past 20 years, preschools in the West Coast region have held their own event a few weeks later. This year, the celebration took place on March 9, and 147 preschools participated. It began with all the schools marching in in single file, and later in the day, sports were on the program. We were also represented, and as the photos show, all the adults wore green outfits with the same pattern.
