Rain—and more rain
Published October 16, 2025

The fact that the Gambia has a rainy season from June to October is nothing new, but this year has been very unusual. This year, it has rained both longer and more intensely than ever before in the years that Butterfly Friends has been here.
This has caused major challenges for both students and teachers, who literally have to wade through knee-deep water to get to school. How much repair work will be needed?
What do we need to do to be prepared for next year’s rainy season?
