Out of the gloom and darkness

Two members of the Butterfly Friends board are now in Gambia. This has accelerated the maintenance work at the schools. Here’s a look at some of what has happened so far:

First up was the school in Brikama. For several years, the school has had fewer and fewer usable desks and tables, and the storage room was filled to the brim. That was recently addressed. All damaged furniture was removed and repaired, and within a day, over 20 beautiful desks and tables were back in place in the classrooms.
The next project was to bring more light into the classrooms at the school in Ebo Town. Here, all the classrooms are quite small and cramped. Moreover, the ceilings throughout the school had been very dark ever since the school was built. That is no longer the case. Two classrooms got gleaming white ceilings, freshly painted walls, and—not least—new LED lights plus a ceiling fan. The difference was absolutely enormous.
