The School Project in Brikama
Published May 9, 2021
The Butterfly Friends school project in Brikama began in 2009 with this wonderful group of young students in a house with a sand floor, no furniture, and just a few streaks of light coming through some small windows in the wall.
After its “Gambia Night” event, Rasta School donated 103,000 kroner, which went toward building this school. That fall, the Gambian children were able to start attending ABC Nursery School Brikama No. 4. What a joy!
By 2016, the elementary and middle schools were completed. Funding for this expansion came from sponsors and donors in Mandal. Brikama now has beautiful school buildings where 32 staff members work every day to provide a quality education to their 390 students. A thousand thanks to everyone.
